TIA Targets Freight Fraud ‘Crisis’

SAN ANTONIO — Fighting back against rampant fraud in the freight transportation industry remains a top priority for the Transportation Intermediaries Association as leaders in the freight brokerage business also work to strengthen relations with carriers.

TIA’s new president, Chris Burroughs, highlighted those and other critical issues for third-party logistics providers April 10 at the association’s 2025 Capital Ideas Conference.

'Iluminati' hack hits DAT boards with thousands of $20/mile postings

Multiple brokers on Monday showed signs of falling victim to a hack that saw hundreds of load postings flying onto DAT's load board quicker than the users could delete them, and perhaps even defeating DAT's own revamped security measures

"It was on Monday," said Tina Giramma, a broker at ST Freight. "I had gotten a couple emails about some random load that's not my load. It happens every now and then." Yet when she "opened up DAT, the whole damn page was full of postings.

U.S. DOT is looking for transportation regulations to eliminate — and they need your help

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is asking for public help in identifying regulations that could be repealed without threatening highway safety.

In a notice published in the Federal Register on April 3 , USDOT announced plans to move ahead with the Trump Administration’s deregulatory agenda by seeking public input on which existing regulations could be modified or repealed while continuing to ensure safety within the U.S. transportation system.

Lawmakers have issued a proposal that seeks to strengthen the U.S. supply chain by offering tax incentives up to $7,500 to help the trucking industry retain drivers.

The bipartisan “Strengthening Supply Chains through Truck Driver Incentives Act” was reintroduced on March 27, 2025, by Reps. Pat Ryan and Zachary Nunn.

Adrienne Camire’s name has vanished from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website just two weeks after she was named acting administrator.

Camire was appointed on March 7 to lead the FMCSA. By March 21, the agency had removed all references to her leadership, including a press release announcing her appointment and her name on the agency’s leadership page.

Trump Team Gives New York 30 Days to End Congestion Tolls MTA and Hochul Reject Demands, Insist Plan Will Move Forward

The Trump administration has reiterated a demand for New York to end its congestion pricing program, providing officials with a 30-day extension to turn off the tolls.

So far, the state and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have refused to comply with a March 21 deadline to halt the program. MTA CEO Janno Lieber has previously said the program will remain in effect until there is a court decision on the matter.
